In 1941, the Tennessee Association of the Blind was founded in Nashville Tennessee as a non-profit organization, in order to address the social, emotional and educational needs of those in our community with vision loss.
In 1996, The Association for the Blind became the Middle Tennessee Council of the Blind and joined as one of four chapters of the Tennessee Council of the Blind (TCB), the state affiliate of the American Council of the Blind (ACB), a nationally recognized non-profit consumer organization that strives to increase the independence, security, equality of opportunity and quality of life, for all people who are blind and visually-impaired.
Currently we are a membership 73 strong and growing. With the advent of specialized technology for the blind and visually impaired, we are current in this 21st century and making greater progress in our goals for the blind and visually impaired community.
