Standing Committees

Fund Development Committee

The Fund Development Committee shall be responsible for developing and recommending fund-raising projects to the Board of Directors and then to the general membership given the approval of the Board.

 

Membership Development Committee

The Membership Development Committee shall be responsible for developing and recommending activities to increase membership for consideration by the Board.

 

Social Committee

The Social Committee shall be responsible for developing and recommending social and recreational activities for the enjoyment of the membership for consideration by the Board.The committee plans, and organizes the quarterly luncheons and monthly dinner club outings.

 

Public Relations Committee

The Public Relations Committee shall be responsible for developing, recommending, and submitting to the Board:  

  • Projects which will inform and educate the general public about the capabilities and accomplishments of blind and visually impaired persons.
  • Outreach efforts to make blind and visually impaired persons aware of the existence and purpose of MTCB. 

 

Legislative Committee

The legislative committee shall be responsible for reporting to the membership on legislation affecting blind and visually impaired persons. It shall also recommend to the Board of Directors specific actions to be taken by MTCB

 

Technology

The Computer Committee shall be responsible for organizing and develop computer training opportunities for our members who have insufficient knowledge in computer technology and other adaptive equipment. Also to advise and coach individuals with problems they encounter and to help with specific problems by members who have been asked to address specific problems.

 

Bowling

The Bowling Committee shall be responsible for planning, organizing, and maintains the data base of individual averages, handicaps and team scores for the winter/spring bowling league. To participate, you <b>MUST</b> be a member in good standing during the entire season.

 

Sunshine

The Sunshine Committee shall be responsible for sending get well cards birthday cards, thank you cards, and sympathy cards on behalf of the Chapter.

 

Scholarship

This committee develops guidelines for eligibility, distributes and receives applications, and reviews applications and selects scholarship winners.

 

Subsidy

This committee recommends MTCB activities for which members may receive subsidies. This committee establishes the amount to be given for each function, subject to the approval of the membership.

 

Audit

The Audit Committee shall be responsible for the examination, review and audits the financial books and records submitted by the Treasure on an annual basis as written in the Chapters Constitution.

 

Constitution and Bylaws

The Constitution and By-Laws Committee shall be responsible for the annual review of the Chapters Constitution and if one exists, Bylaws to correct, change, update, and revise them as needed.  Also this committee should be familiar with them to keep compliance during meetings and events through out the year.

 

MTCB Store

This committee purchases and distributes adaptive aids to individuals  in the community who are experiencing vision loss and require these items before other services can be attained.

 

Labor and Workforce

This committee reports on discriminatory practices in the workplace as they relate to employees who are blind and visually impaired. MTCB will advocate through letter-writing, conference calls, and face-to-face meetings as  appropriate.

 

5k Walk/Run

This committee is responsible for the planning of the bi-annual 5k walk run fundraiser and to promote exercise and physical activity among our members and to help raise blind and vision loss awareness in the community.
